The Think Outside the Square photo competition has been launched by Launceston Church Grammar School and is aimed at budding photographers in grades 5-8.
Grammar deputy headmaster Nicholas Foster said the competition aimed to encourage creativity.

“We want to show students that creativity can be used to solve all problems, it’s not just an artistic pursuit,” he said.
Think Outside the Square requires entrants to submit 16 photographs online.
The photos may be held together by a theme or a style or they may exist independently of each other.
“There’s a lot of metaphors there,” Mr Foster said.
Images may also be drawn from the entrant’s Instagram account or they could be taken specifically for the competition.
Mr Foster said Grammar had a strong arts community and was always looking for ways to give back to the wider arts community.
It has facilitated a different photographic competition called Snap, in previous years.
Outside the Square will replace Snap.
In the past Snap has received state, national and international entries.
This year’s competition is similarly open to all students in the grade bracket.
Outside the Square is running now and entries are open until August 5. Visit https://photocompetition.lcgs.tas.edu.au/
