Rainbow had first moved to Melbourne three years ago to attend university and was drafted into the Melbourne Vixens-feeder squad.
But the 21-year-old played down any sign of a grudge match amid the Tasmanian Magpies’ preparation ahead of next weekend’s Australian Netball League finals series.
“For me, it’s just another game,” Rainbow said.
“I’m really excited about it.
“It’s always great to play in Victoria and in what is a crosstown derby in what will be an amazing atmosphere.
“I did play for them and a lot of the girls I have trained and played with so you learn.
“But I don’t really have any inside knowledge and they also know my game as well.”
The top-of-the-table clash comes just one week before a possible grand final rematch.
The two Melbourne-based teams have lost just three times in 24 combined games.
The Winnaleah product felt the Magpies would hold nothing back in the weekend’s matches to gain a psychological edge in form.
“In that respect, we don’t change our game plan. We just go in with a clear understanding of their strengths and style of play,” she said.
