The swinging sounds of the Ross Challender Big Band and Jacob Boot and the Seven Left Feet are set to ring out from the Australian Italian Club as part of the celebration. For Jacob Boot bass player Peter Waddle, the event is a chance to honour everyone who has made the club what it is.
“It’s going to be great to play in front of the regulars who are still around, while also remembering the ones that aren’t here anymore,” he said.
“We just want everyone to enjoy the moment.”
The Launceston Jazz Club was founded in March 1988, two years after the demise of the Northern Tasmania Jazz Action Society, which previously hosted functions in Launceston. Early gigs were held at the Launceston Bowls Club and Batman Fawkner Inn, before the club moved to the Royal Oak in 1991.
