The Conara agricultural science student said her passion for wool was cemented after she took a gap year to be mentored by industry leaders and study wool classing and shearing.
“I’ve had so many opportunities working in sheds and being exposed to fleece judging. I had a gap year and worked at Trefusis merino stud and a few other sheds last year to see the different wool types,” she said.
Miss Scott runs 49 ewes at her family farm and recently bought a ram as the beginnings of her own merino stud.
Rural Bank awarded 15 agricultural scholarships nationally.
