The club recently donated $1000 to the appeal, which raises money for four Launceston charities – the Benevolent Society, St Vincent de Paul’s, the Salvation Army and City Mission.
Club president Linda Dilworth said knowing the money would stay within the local community was one of the main reasons they decided to donate.

“I think it is great to be able to help people who are in need and winter is a particularly difficult time for so many,” she said.
“Knowing that the money stays within Launceston is a good feeling. It is our way of giving back and this way we are helping people in the local community, which is really important for our club.”
Ms Dilworth said all of the money was raised at this year’s Agfest, where the club ran a “particularly successful” sausage sizzle.
This year The Examiner’s Winter Relief Appeal is celebrating its 60th year and has a fundraising goal of $60,000.
