The emerging names and those names that are familiar to the TSL honour boards.
Ryan Bailey is one that is certainly emerging.
The Clarence ruckman has made a triumphant return this year from Southern Football League club Brighton.
Bailey tightened his grip on Saturday towards winning the player of the year award.
He earned one vote in the win over North Launceston to push his lead out to one.
Star Glenorchy defender Daniel Joseph is another.
Hot on the heels of Bailey, Joseph’s two votes against North Hobart has him sitting only one behind.
Sherrin Egger is the next in line to emerge.
The North Launceston teenager just continues to impress each week, receiving two more votes to stand a further vote behind.
Egger’s breakout season has seen the back pocket specialist poll seven votes in his last three games alone.
He only has to look upfield to midfielder Taylor Whitford for vote-catching prowess.
The first-year Bombers captain-coach has sat out games to observe his charges from the boundary line.
But Whitford still stands two votes off from claiming his second award.
Then there’s Jaye Bowden.
The three-time TSL award winner has put a quiet start behind him this season to grab his first best-on-ground game for 2018.
The eight-goal exhibition against Tigers has kept the 29-year-old in contention for an unparalleled fourth win.
Meanwhile, North Launceston’s Dakota Bannister and James Holmes, of Clarence, escaped further action after being referred by the match review panel for making high contact with each other.
The panel was unable to determine a sanction due to insufficient evidence and neither club wished to pursue the matter.
Cooper Leek (North Hobart) and Joel Millhouse (Glenorchy) were reported for striking each other but the MRP determined there was no evidence for this and amended the charge to wrestling.
Both players accepted a low-level reprimand.
Lauderdale’s Phillip Bellchambers accepted a one-match suspension after being reported for striking Tigers’ Matt Coad.
No action was taken for Tigers and Lauderdale players referred for engaging in a melee.
