A new competition looks a possibility after fruitful negotiations with softball officials to utilise Churchill Park.
“What we’re trying to do is get some numbers up, with future plans of some sort of small friendly or social competition going first,” baseball coordinator Luke Prior said.
“We’re working with the softball association – they’ve offered us one of its grounds.”
Serious consideration has been given to join Hobart’s summer competition.
But the midweek playing schedule would ultimately hold such a venture back.
A Launceston team would only join should they be able to play Saturday-only games.
“There is definitely serious interest there that we could field a team to travel down to Hobart,” Prior said.
“It’s just a matter of how they’d structure their league.”
The come-and-try training day will start from 1pm this Sunday at Churchill Park.
