EARLIER:
A search is underway for a man missing in the state’s North-East.
Sean Irwin Mansell was last seen at a friends property at Swain Hill near Pioneer on Monday morning.
He has not been seen or heard from since.
The 52-year-old Launceston man was wearing dark blue track pants, Blundstone boots, a dark long-sleeved top, leather vest and an Akubra hat.
“It is not unusual for Mr Mansell to catch a lift back to Launceston, or to visit friends at St Helens, however, he hasn’t been seen or heard from since Monday morning, and this is unusual,” police said.
“Police are concerned for Mr Mansell’s welfare, and that he may have become disoriented and got lost in the area. A search and rescue operation has started, with SES and police to search the area overnight [Wednesday].”
Anyone who has seen Mr Mansell or has information on his whereabouts should contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
