Based in South Hobart, the Tasmanian judge was recognised for his significant service to the judiciary, legal education and to professional law societies.
Justice Estcourt has been a judge since 2013 and is currently chairman of the Tasmanian Supreme Court Users Group.
Between 2012 and 2013 he was commissioner of the Tasmanian Legal Aid Commission and was also chairman of the Medical Complaints Tribunal between 2008 and 2010.
Other significant positions of service include deputy president of the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal, 2001-2004; approved examiner for the Commonwealth Proceeds of Crimes Act 2002, 2004-2013; Victorian Bar 2004-2013; Tasmanian Independent Bar, since 1995; Queen's Counsel, since 1998; magistrate at Hobart Magistrates Court 1990-1994.
