The Examiner’s Winter Relief Appeal has maintained its relevance over the past six decades.
This year the appeal celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Over the past 59 years, thanks to generous donations from the community, more than $3.5 million has been distributed to four Launceston charities – the Benevolent Society, St Vincent de Paul’s, the Salvation Army and City Mission.
The target of this year’s appeal is $60,000.
While the appeal officially launched on June 1, the tally already sits at $6387.97.
As a 60-year celebration and a fundraiser, The Examiner will host a cocktail party in July.
A venue, entertainment, auction items and ticket sales will be announced in coming weeks.
