This year the appeal celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Over the past 59 years, thanks to generous donations from the community, more than $3.5 million has been distributed to four Launceston charities – the Benevolent Society, St Vincent de Paul’s, the Salvation Army and City Mission.
The target of this year’s appeal is $60,000.
The appeal officially launched on June 1. The tally sat at $30,004.40 on July 3.
As a 60-year celebration and a fundraiser, The Examiner will host a cocktail party in August.
Every single dollar from ticket sales will go directly to the Winter Relief Appeal.
