A report of a missing person in the Somerset area on Saturday night prompted a search and rescue operation in the area.

Sergeant Craig Harvey said about 7.15pm police responded to a report of a missing person.
As a result a search of the beach and water in the Somerset area was conducted utilising resources from Tasmania Police, State Emergency Services, Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Ambulance Service and Surf Life Saving Australia.
“The search located the missing person, an 18-year-old Burnie woman, cold but uninjured on rocks near the Somerset Beach. The woman was transported to the North West Regional Hospital for after being located,” Sergeant Harvey said.
“Police would like to thank the Surf Life Saving Australia and State Emergency Service volunteers, along with members of the public who assisted in the search. Their efforts have contributed to a positive resolution of the incident.”
