West Tamar Council general manager Rolph Vos will spend five years on the Australian Local Government Association’s Australian Building Codes Board.
The 16-member body is responsible for developing the National Construction Code.
The ABCB also acts as an adviser for the Council of Australian Governments.
West Tamar mayor Christina Holmdahl said Mr Vos’ appointment reflected the “high regard” he has in the sector.
“We are honoured to have him elected to the ABCB Board. We are proud to see the same faith placed in his abilities as Council does,” Cr Holmdahl said.
Building and construction minister Guy Barnett also congratulated Mr Vos.
“This important appointment recognises Mr Vos’ significant contributions as a local government leader,” Mr Barnett said.
