The Blue Diamond Dinner for StGiles aims to raise $20,000 for the support service.
Held on August 3, the evening will feature a six course dinner created by Mudbar owner and chef, Don Cameron, who referenced his late wife as the inspiration behind the event.
Mel Cameron, who died in July 2015, was part of the inaugural planning for the StGiles Black Diamond Dinner held at Launceston’s St John’s Church.
‘Mel’s way’ – her exceptional, quality standard of hospitality service – is still taught at Mudbar to this day.
Blue was also Mrs Cameron’s favourite colour and event organiser Danielle Blewett said the restaurant would be bathed in lapis lights for the event.
“This dinner will serve as a testament to a woman who left an incredible mark on the hospitality industry,” she said.
“The evening will satisfy appetites for beautiful food and absorbing conversation with journalist Martin Flanagan talking with ABC’s Roisin McCann, and six courses created with great heart, generosity and superb skill by Don Cameron and his team.”
Mr Cameron said the needs of StGiles had never been greater and urged the community to show its support for the event.
“We will ask guests at this spectacular evening to remember that days at StGiles are gruelling,” he said.
“StGiles struggles against the odds to give children a brighter future.
“We will ask them to donate because StGiles relies on donations like a fine thread that saves it from collapsing.

“This is just a little thing the community can do to show its support.”
There are 100 tickets available for the event at $195 each.
Along with guests Martin Flanagan and Roisin McCann, artist and Glover finalist Katy Woodroffe will also be donating two items to be auctioned on the night.
Mr Cameron said the menu would be Asian inspired and the meals “exquisite”.
“We want people to experience the pure joy of beautiful food,” he said.
“Mudbar will give our very best to StGiles.”
