The Break O’Day Mental Health Action Group, Doug Vautier from OzHelp Tasmania Foundation, ambassador Ben Hirst of Hobart and Hydro Tasmania were all announced as recipients of the Relationships Australia Tasmania LIFE awards on Wednesday night.
Relationships Australia Tasmania’s and Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network chairperson Dr Michael Kelly said the awards were important in the ongoing campaign to help Tasmanians impacted by suicide.
“Every day in Tasmania, there are hundreds of people working to prevent suicide, in communities, sporting clubs and schools,” she said.
“It’s up to all of us to take an interest in suicide prevention because we all have the capacity to make a difference.
“The four LIFE Awards recognise individuals and organisations in our community who are making a difference.”
Relationships Australia Tasmania will hold the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention forum, bringing together 80 delegates, at the Tailrace Centre in Launceston on Thursday.
