The Tamar Valley Steiner School will host its third annual event in partnership with St Vincent de Paul Society.
Teacher Lynda Wood said the 65 pupils had been involved in making lanterns for the event, and would be taking part in the walk.
“The reason is for many centuries there have been lantern walks on the approach from Autumn to Winter,” she said.
The school’s walk will celebrate St Martin, who was a monk.
“In the cold and storm he shared his robe with a beggar on the street,” Ms Wood said.
“We also have a blanket drive running with St Vincent de Paul and they’ll be coming along and sharing the walk with us.”
The event will have singing, stories and warmed spiced apple juice.
People are asked to bring a blanket to donate to the charity.
The event starts at 5pm at the rotunda. Some lanterns will be available for a gold coin donation.
