Mohr, from Launceston, had kept Brown, originally from Devonport, quiet with just three touches the first half of North Melbourne’s win over Greater Western Sydney, before Brown exploded to life in the third quarter with five goals.

The Coleman Medal leader, who finished Saturday’s outing with 5.1 from 13 touches, six marks, three goal assists and nine score involvements, has moved his season tally to 31.10, ahead of West Coast’s Jack Darling, who has 28.11 after a haul of 6.2 against Richmond.

It also continued his strong form in his home state, with 10.2 for the year in Hobart and 21.13 from 12 career games in the capital.

Mohr finished his afternoon with 10 touches (seven intercepts), one mark three tackles and three score involvements.

It was his first game since featuring against West Coast in round 10 last year. The 29-year-old has played 47 games since making his debut in the expansion club’s first ever outing in 2012, with his career hampered by two knee reconstructions.

The wet conditions in Adelaide on Friday night suited Crow Hugh Greenwood perfectly, with 19 of the 20 possessions collected by the tough as nails midfielder from Lauderdale contested. He also had 10 clearances, laid 11 tackles, three inside 50s. had one goal assist and two score involvements against the Western Bulldogs.

Aaron Hall again performed well in Shanghai, collecting 29 possessions (16 of them uncontested) at 69 per cent disposal efficiency, seven marks, three clearances, nine rebound 50s five tackles and one score involvement in Gold Coast’s loss to Port Adelaide.

It came after he collected 37 touches in the 2017 version of the AFL’s Chinese experiment.

Lachie Weller, of Burnie, had 19 touches at 74 per cent disposal efficiency, two marks, six tackles, 1.0, two goal assists and three score involvements for the Suns.

Collingwood’s Jeremy Howe played his 150^th game as the Pies defeated St Kilda, with the Dodges Ferry product again putting in a strong performance in defence. He collected 30 possessions (11 of them intercepts) at 73 per cent disposal efficiency, took 11 marks (two intercepts), eight rebound and three inside 50s,  three tackles and two score involvements.

Glenorchy’s Jimmy Webster had 24 touches (six of them intercepts) at 87 per cent disposal efficiency and took two marks from defence for the Saints, while Burnie’s Maverick Weller was quiet with nine touches and three marks in attack. 

Clarence’s Jack Riewoldt was outstanding for Richmond as the Tigers lost top spot on the table to West Coast. With Jeremy McGovern as his opponent, Riewoldt kicked 5.2, with one goal assist and nine score involvements, from 13 touches, seven marks and three tackles. Riewoldt sits in third place on the Coleman Medal table (an award he has won twice) with 24.13 for the year.  

George Town’s Toby Nankervis had a tough assignment up against Nic Naitanui and Scott Lycett and finished with 21 hit-outs, 15 touches, two goal assists, four score involvements and two tackles.

Ulverstone’s Alex Pearce spent time on Lance Franklin in Fremantle’s loss to Sydney, finishing with seven touches and three marks while Franklin kicked 3.1

Launceston ruckman Thomas Bellchambers won 24 hit-outs and had just eight touches in Essendon’s win over Geelong, and side which featured Jake Kolodjashnij (15 touches, nine of them intercepts, four marks, two tackles and four score involvements) and Jackson Thurlow (13 touches, six marks and three score involvements).

Lauderdale’s Mitch Robinson was strong as Brisbane won its first game of the season with 23 possessions (15 of them uncontested), seven marks, three score involvements and three tackles in the midfield against Hawthorn, but it was a tougher for North Hobart’s Liam Jones at Carlton.

He was part of a Blues defence that conceded 25 goals against Melbourne and had eight touches and three marks.
