Break O’Day Council received a $50,000 grant from the Tasmanian Community Fund last year for the fit-out of the stadium’s kiosk.
This included stainless steel benchtops and cabinets, a pass-through dishwasher, gas stove, oven, and display fridges.
Access to kitchen facilities would allow the stadium to cater to a wider range of community events.
St Helens Netball Association president Jacqui Lockwood said the new fit-out allowed a wider range of meals to be served during their Friday night games, such as curries and pasta.
“Friday night games already have a reputation as a great, fun and affordable family night out and we attract a large local crowd to these games,” she said.
Mayor Mick Tucker said the fit-out, alongside new tables, chairs, and crockery purchased by council, opened up “a whole new avenue for use of the stadium”.
