Launceston Aquatic and South Esk swimmers make up the bulk of the Northern contingent for the state team competing at the School Games in Hobart in July.

Swimming Tasmania named a 98-strong team for the July 25-31 competition.
Launceston and South Esk each have 17 swimmers selected, with seven from Riverside, five from Burnie and two from Ulverstone.
Siblings feature heavily as among the Northern representatives are Jensen and Jack Walton of Ulverstone; Grace and Emily Mitchell, Isabella and Amy Muldoon, Mollie and William Gray, Dawson and Wylie Howell, and Adelaide and John Skipper of LAC; Ethan and Blake Stretton of Riverside; and Rebecca and Jonathan Clarke, and Taylor and Chantele Raine, of South Esk.
The remaining swimmers are from southern clubs Hobart Aquatic (31), HC (13) and Sandy Bay (six).
Swimming Tasmania’s administration and development officer, Maddi Palser, congratulated the swimmers on their selections.
“We had an unprecedented level of interest in the Games this year,” she said.
The School Games are organised by School Sports Australia, with competitors drawn from the ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, VIC and WA as well as the host state.

Swimming Tasmania has cancelled a time trial scheduled for Launceston on May 26 due to a lack of officials.
