City of Launceston general manager Michael Stretton said a section of fencing in front of the Japanese Garden to the east of the Town Hall will be removed this week, with the works between Henty House and Macquarie House being the last to be complete.
“There will still be minor works in the re-opened areas in the weeks ahead as we finalise the development, and we'll have cranes and other machinery on site occasionally for works like the installation of the catenary shading structures,” he said.
“We're liaising with the family of the late artist Stephen Walker about the final placement of his bronze sculptures, commissioned as part of The Examiner's 150th anniversary, and we'll also have some interpretation signage being installed in the weeks ahead.”
The Civic Square redevelopment was the second major upgrade to be implemented as part of the City Heart project.
The upgrade is on track to be complete before the end of June.
