As of Friday evening, minor flood warnings were in place for the Derwent, Huon and North Esk rivers.
While no further major rainfall totals were predicted, rapid river rises and strong flows are possible for the North Esk River over the weekend.
Weather warnings remained in place on Friday night for damaging south to southeasterly winds across the North, North-West, and East.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Brooke Oakley said following Thursday night’s extreme weather event in Hobart, heavy rain and strong winds had extended to the state’s North throughout Friday.
“Hobart, St Helens and Launceston all received gusts of greater than 80km/h. This significant weather event has been due to a low pressure system lying near Tasmania.”
