Project lead Dr Peat Leith had conversations with Agfest patrons with the aim of finding out “what their needs are, what their priorities for the future are, where they’re heading and what are their key constraints in achieving their goal”.
Their responses will be collated to help the institute determine key research, development and extension priorities for the state into the future, Dr Leith said.
“There’s so much happening in Tasmanian agriculture and food at the moment that we figured we need to have a state focus,” he said.
“There’s a lot of interaction between sectors, diversification on farms and a lot more people working across the value chain, not only growing food, but producing finished products,” he said.
