Works from Antonio Vivaldi, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and George Frideric Handel will be performed at the Longford Christ Church on Sunday afternoon.
The performance is part of a collaboration between the Camerata Obscura, Don Chorale, and the Evandale Village Singers.
The sounds of Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater will echo from the church with the help of soloists Michaela Young, Benjamin Martin, Gerard Lane, Leonie Gryta, Alison Saunders and Priscilla Aldridge.
Evandale Singers musical director Jane Ellis said each piece required different sections of the performance group.
“Vivaldi wrote Gloria for the choir of a home for abandoned girls, so we have tried to recreate that setting with 16 members of the Evandale Singers,” she said.
“Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater is full of dignity and will be performed by two of our soloists, while Handel’s Dixit Dominus requires zest and vitality to reflect that of the youthful composer.”
Guest director Christopher Bearman OAM will oversee the performance.
The conductor has previously worked with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth Orchestra, and the Newcastle Conservatorium.
Doors will open at 2.30pm for a 3pm start.
Tickets are $35 and $30 for concession.
The Christ Church Longford is located at 2 WIlliam Street, Longford.
Refreshments will be provided.
