The national event is the RSPCA’s biggest fundraiser, which each year supports more than 250,000 animals – or a million paws.
This year’s Launceston event will take place at Royal Park and be lead by MLC Rosemary Armitage.
Ms Armitage said the event was a fantastic excuse to get some exercise with man’s best friend.
“It is a wonderful event and just a really fun way of bringing together animal lovers for a good cause,” she said.
“It is all about raising money and the community always show their support.”
RSPCA Tasmania marketing and fundraising coordinator Melanie Knight said organisers were hoping to raise $60,000, with walks in Launceston, Ulverstone, St Helens and Hobart.
“Everything that we raise in Tasmania, stays in Tasmania,” she said.
“If people are unable to attend on the day, they can still register and raise money online.
“Last year around Tasmania more than 2000 people took part in a Million Paws Walk.
“It is always a fun event and it gives some of the dogs up for adoption at our care centres a chance to get out and potentially find a new home for life.”
