Devonport and Burnie are mid-table, according to Tasmania Police figures.
The police Central West Division, including Ulverstone, Penguin and the West Coast, had a much lower offence rate than the rest of the North-West.
The North-East had a rate less than half of that of Launceston.
Residents of the Deloraine and Kingston areas were the Tasmanians least likely to commit offences.
The Launceston Division had an annual rate of 1004 offences per 10,000 residents, according to a recent police report.
That was much higher than the second-placed Glenorchy Division (773), with Hobart third (718).
The Devonport Division (524) had the North-West’s highest offence rate.
Burnie was on 482.
Central West had a rate of 275.
The good news for Launceston was the number of offences was declining, as was the case for the Burnie and Devonport police divisions.
Launceston offences decreased by 9.9 per cent to 4225 in the eight months to the end of February, compared to the same period a year earlier.
Devonport offences were down by 4.7 per cent to 1425.
The Burnie Division had a 2.7 per cent decrease to 1273 offences.
Central West offences were up by 20.1 per cent to 831.
The Hobart, Glenorchy and Bridgewater divisions all had significant increases in offence numbers.
