The injured bird was found at Ravenswood on April 13 with a gunshot wound to the leg. It was taken to a vet clinic but could not be saved.
Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment wildlife operations section head Luke Bond said investigators were seeking assistance from the public.
“It will be investigated and we will pursue them with the full force of the law if we’ve got the evidence to do so,” he said.
“People intentionally go out and shoot eagles, and it’s time this sort of stupid behaviour stopped.”
