About 250 people attended the service, which was lead by pupils from the high school.
An additional 300 people gathered at the St Helens Cenotaph for the dawn service.
“One thing we’ve tried to do is involve the kids in the service every year to keep the remembrance going,” St Helens RSL sub-branch president Harry Jager said.
