Registering three draws in a row, breaking through for the win will be Queechy’s ideal result this weekend.
Coming off a high scoring loss last week in which Robert Partridge scored twice, Tamar has found some form and be looking to add to their solitary win.
Bouncing back from last week’s loss will be a priority for Launceston City as they face off against South Burnie.
Regaining veteran Jeremy Stebbings from injury provides much-needed experience for the young City outfit. South Burnie’s teamwork has been on show in the past few weeks as they begin to find some devastating form.
Undefeated Burnie Baptist takes on West Devonport in a match between two teams currently on opposite ends of the table.
West Devonport hopes for a respectable performance against Baptist, and the defence of Zac King and Damon Last holds the key. Baptist on the other hand is in red-hot form and will be hard to stop.
Discipline was the issue for Devonport last week and they’ll have to right that wrong against the South Launceston powerhouse at home on Saturday.
For Devonport, missed opportunities proved costly in their loss to Smithton, whereas South consistently found the back of the net against Tamar last week in a high scoring win.
Lastly, City Marians take on Smithton in a battle of two teams who picked up wins that could define their season. Marians defeated West Devonport 10-0 in an impressive all-round performance and Richard Cornish attacked strongly last week for Smithton to get them across the line against Devonport.
In the women’s competition, Devonport will be looking for a positive return after unfortunately forfeiting last week’s game.
Getting numbers back after state duties and school holidays, they are in for a test against a rampant South Launceston. Led by coach Susan Brumby, South is almost the benchmark of the competition and will be hard to beat.
In a potential match-of-the-year candidate, undefeated Queechy Penguins take on West Devonport in a grand final rematch.
Queechy will want to flip the result from last year as they head into this match off the back of strong results, with West looking to recover from a tight loss last week.
One of the form teams of GNLW, City Marians face a rested Smithton this week in a big match for both sides. Coming off arguably the biggest win this year, Marians wants to consolidate their high ladder position and Smithton, after a week off, needs to brush off a 5-1 loss last time they played.
Launceston City will be without Laura Gowans and Hayley Vimpany this week and as a result, youth will be stepping up to fill the void and get an opportunity against South Burnie.
After a 2-0 loss to ladder leaders Queechy, South hopes to bounce back and get an away win over City.
