The teenager had the honour of playing the Last Post to a silent crowd at Launceston’s dawn service on Anzac Day.
Stenton’s family doesn’t have military ties, but he has developed a connection with the commemorations through music.
“It means so much to play in front of so many people,” he said.
“There is quite a few nerves but I’ve played it a few times, and it is quite dark so you only see the front few rows.”
Stenton is a member of the City of Launceston RSL band and it was the band master, Simon Patridge, who asked him to play the Last Post.
This year was the third time the teenager had played the bugle at the dawn service on Anzac Day.
“It is such an honour,” Stenton said.
Predominately a cornet player, Stenton learned the bugle so he could play the Last Post the “proper way”.
