Three of Tasmania's best indigenous teenage footballers are set to represent the nation at the upcoming NAB AFL under-16 championships in July.

The trio will play two exhibition matches on the Gold Coast, as a result of being selected by AFL club recruiters, based on school attendance, leadership skills and football ability.
Tony Aganas, 16, from the Prospect Hawks, was selected for the 2018 world team, made up of the best upcoming AFL multicultural players from across the nation. Meanwhile, North-West pair Liam Flanigan and Jonty McIvor, both 15, were included among the 25 players listed for the AFL Flying Boomerangs squad.
AFL general manager Andrew Dillon said the programs are a great opportunity for the best rising multicultural talent in the nation to develop on and off the field.
“The Boomerangs and world team squads have been selected following their impressive performances at the AFL national diversity championships in Blacktown last week,” Dillon said.
“Over the past few years we have seen the championships grow into a genuine elite talent pathway and we look forward to the next stage of development for these players.”
