And it’s just round 4 of the new TSL season.
The star North Launceston recruit provided the required polish to pull the Bombers over the line in their tough clash against rivals Clarence.
“His first half was actually really good and he could have kicked four goals in the second quarter,” captain-coach Taylor Whitford said.
“He might have died out late in the game, but coming from the NTFA into the State League his ability to pick up the pace of the game has been so good. That’s a test of how good of a player he is.”
Cousens polled three votes in the TSL player-of-the-year award amid a 12-point win.
Whitford is not surprised by Cousens’ impressive start, having spent a season playing for the club’s colts before heading back to Rocherlea.
“He has really committed to our culture and how we go about things,” Whitford said.
“I’m happy with the way he has fitted into our group.”
After keeping tabs on Cousens from afar, last year’s Rocherlea best-and-fairest winner approached the club to have another TSL crack.
“We’ve known Jordan is a fantastic player and a really good person,” Whitford said.
“The years he’s been at Rocherlea, we’ve wanted to get him back into our system.”
From the clash, Clarence’s Chris Nield accepted a one-game suspension for striking Bomber talent Zach Burt.
