Burnie Baptist continued their undefeated streak this week with a 4-0 win over a depleted Launceston City outfit. Burnie’s goals were shared around, three of which came from penalty corners with Jarrad Poke starring.

Despite this, David Reid was excellent in goals for City, who attempted to claw back the lead late in the game but couldn’t make an impact on the scoreboard.
City Marians produced an emphatic 10-0 victory against West Devonport. Rhys Burgess scored four goals and Jason Birtwistle found the back of the net three times.
Matt Cameron was the source of many assists for Marians with West Devonport goalkeeper Zac King and fellow defender, coach Damon Last persisting under tough conditions.
An intense end-to-end game from Queechy and South Burnie ended in a 1-all draw. Queechy scored late in the first quarter, Evan Lawrence backing up his efforts from last week with another goal, an impressive tomahawk finish.
Brent Jago then evened the odds in the third quarter off the back of some solid team play.
Smithton used their home fortress to their advantage with a competitive 2-0 win over Devonport. The Saints made the most of their opportunities in situations where Devonport didn’t, proving the more disciplined of the two teams.
A rebound win following last week’s loss, Smithton hopes this will be the start of something big for the side.
A high scoring contest finished off the round, with South Launceston Suns picking up the 5-4 win over Tamar Churinga. Keelan Beattie and Alastair McBain both scored twice for Suns with young gun Sam Elliston-Buckley scoring once. Kurt Budgeon was once again the star for South with Tamar attacking well to find the back of the net four times.
In GNLW, City Marians defeated West Devonport in a tight 2-1 game. West Devonport hit the front early through Sarah Grey.
City Marians answered with a penalty stroke courtesy of Petrina Birtwistle in the second quarter, sealing the deal through a Monique Grundy penalty corner in the third. Marians’ Molly Haas and West’s Samantha Lawrence provided highlights for their teams.
South Launceston Suns and Launceston City played out a 1-all draw in a competitive game. Hayley Johns and Claudia Gruber found the back of the net for Suns and City respectively in a match between arguably the two form teams.
Suns coach Susan Brumby had a superb game with Emily Nunn and recruit Claire Lester stepping up for Launceston City.
Queechy Penguins remain undefeated after a 2-0 win over South Burnie.
With both teams scoreless at half time, Queechy hit the scoreboard after the break with Caitlyn French and Josie Kremerskothen converting chances into goals, something the inexperienced South forward line struggled with. Deb West had a superb game for Queechy with Mel Scolyer putting in the hard yards for South Burnie.
