In a solid display of stamina and skill, they scored 12 goals each to lead their respective teams to big wins in Saturday’s third round of NWFA matches.
Purton was on song early with four goals to quarter time as East Ulverstone jumped Rosebery Toorak with 13 unanswered majors in quick succession.
But that was before Purton and his team mates went on a goal-scoring spree to win 46.29 (305) to 0.1 (1).
Despite West Ulverstone’s best efforts, they could not contain the premiers Wesley Vale, as Weeks played a starring role to lead the Kangaroos’ charge to a 226-point win.
In other games too, impressive goal scoring came to the fore.
Forth retained top spot on the ladder courtesy of their 164-point defeat of Sheffield while Motton Preston made it three in a row by outplaying Turners Beach to win 24.18 (162) to 4.3 (27).
Adam Garwood with eight goals, Nick Veal (seven) and David Vanderfeen (six), did most of the damage for Forth by grasping their opportunities against a predominantly youthful Sheffield.
And despite Motton Preston having Turners Beach on the back foot by half time, the Demons’ coach Adam Waasdorp’s fine tuning of the forward structure fashioned a 10-goal-to-one second half for a comfortable win.
