The Country Tigers led at half time after jumping out of the blocks with a three goal to one first term, but trailed at three-quarter time.
The two sides traded goals at the start of the final quarter but Longford slowly worked its way on top thanks to the class of Bradley Symmons and Daniel Berry.
Nick Garwood’s roving snap in the forward pocket put the Country Tigers five points clear with five minutes to go before a holding the ball free kick straight in front of goal sealed the win.
Thorp and Cameron Gard both impressed for the winners with Berry, Garwood, Symmons and Jake Murfett all kicking two.
Rocherlea full-forward Ben Elmer (six goals) was a constant force up forward, providing a target up the ground and kicking a magical checkside from the boundary in the third term.
The result marked Rocherlea’s first loss to Longford in nearly four years.

BRIDGENORTH bolted to its second big win of the season, sentencing George Town to a 133-point flogging.
The Parrots put the result beyond doubt in the first quarter by piling on 10 goals to one as Joel Clements (six goals) and Casey Walker-Russell (four) had their way inside the forward 50.
By the end of the match Bridgenorth had amassed 11 goalkickers in the 25.10 (160) to 3.9 (27) win.
Jacob Bonney and Matt Zanetto controlled the midfield battle for the Parrots while Walker-Russell and Rohan Bones found plenty of the ball around the front half.
There were few positives for Saints coach Allan O’Sign, barring the form of returning co-captain Jack Hulse who was one of his side’s best.
The result sees Bridgenorth jump into top spot courtesy of a 362.34 percentage, while winless George Town sits at the other end of the ladder at 49.21.
Leigh Nichols helped shake the monkey off SCOTTSDALE’s back, kicking eight goals to lead his side to its first win of the season.
The Magpies had lost two close games heading into the match against Deloraine but made their statement in the opening quarter by opening up a 22-point buffer through the good work of Rohan Lester and Louis Burr.
Kangaroos forward Mathew O’Donoghue (four goals) helped bring Bradley Powe’s men back into the contest in the second term but Scottsdale weren’t to be overcome.
Nathan Green, Dylan Jones and Dylan Schnoor were among Deloraine’s best in the 19.13 (127) to 9.9 (63) loss.
BRACKNELL missed the chance to take top spot, registering its first loss of the season with a 7.15 (57) to 17.7 (109) defeat to Hillwood.
The Sharks were clinical in front of goal early and raced out to a lead that would never be headed.
The Redlegs created more opportunities as the game went on but were unable to match their opposition’s proficiency in front of goal, falling to their first loss of the season.
The result marked Hillwood’s first win of 2018.
