Two Northern Tasmanians were recognised in the prestigious Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards in Hobart on Saturday night.

The Young Achiever Awards aim to recognise the state’s high achievers and contributors to the community, with 250 nominations received from throughout Tasmania.
Nadine Ozols, of Bicheno, and Tara Howell, of Launceston, were among the nine recognised for their achievements.
Ms Ozols, 29, won the Healthier Communities Award for her passion for improving health and wellbeing in rural communities.
As program coordinator of the Healthy Together Bicheno to Buckland program, Ms Ozols facilitated health and wellbeing programs in the region, including guided relaxation sessions and youth women’s health days.
Ms Howell, 27, won the Tourism and Hospitality Award for founding the successful Blue Derby Pods.
The three-day adventure mountain biking experience in Derby allows guests to partake in Tasmanian food and wine whilst staying in unique architecturally designed pods.
About 370 guests attended the awards gala event at Wrest Point.
The awards were hosted by Southern Cross Television news presenter Jo Palmer, and representing Premier Will Hodgman was Liberal MHA Jacquie Petrusma.

Ms Petrusma congratulated nominees for their “outstanding contributions to the Tasmanian community”, and said she looked forward to “seeing their contributions to Tasmania to continue for years to come”.
“Young people are the future leaders of our state and it is important to acknowledge their contribution and encourage them to pursue their goals,” she said.
- Kirby Medcraft, 29, of Lutana, won the Teaching Excellence Award and was named the 2018 Premier’s Young Achiever of the Year.
- Stephanie Eslake, 27, of Sandy Bay, won the Arts and Fashion Award.
- Grant Milbourne, 28, of Lenah Valley, won the Leadership Award.
- Olivia Fleming, 21, of Rosny Park, won the Community Service and Volunteering Award.
- Jack Dyson, 20, of Rokeby, won the Service to the Disability Sector Award.
- Madeleine Fasnacht, 18, of Blackmans Bay, won the Sports Award.
- Madelene Andersen-Ward, 26, of Margate, won the Young Indigenous Achievement Award.
Winners received $1000 and a trophy. Ms Medcraft received an additional $2000 from the state government and a state trophy.
Grace Hills, 21, of Hayes, won the People’s Choice Award.
