Thousands of dollars were raised for cancer research at the Mathinna Club’s Fancy Dress Party on April 14.

Members of Tasmanian band Gypsy Rose, Trudy Barnes and Kirk McGiveron, said all funds raised would be donated to cancer research.

“We raised $6711,” Ms Barnes said.

“We did this 10 years in a row, 13 years ago.

“A lot of people have lost people to cancer.

“It was a reunion, a fundraiser, and a great night.”

She said Sam McCullagh had his dreadlocks and beard shaved on the night and raised $1076 through GOFUNDME, and another $1000 came from raffles.

About 450 people attended the event at Mathinna.

Ms Barnes said they hope to hold another event in the future.
