Council’s general manager Michael Stretton said works were “well advanced”, with the eastern section of the square between the western wall corner of the Launceston LINC through to St John Street the first to be re-opened.
The second stage includes the northern forecourt area and the Japanese Garden, and between Tasmania Police and Town Hall, is expected to be open in May.
The final stage will be opened later in June.
”There will still be minor works in some of these areas after they have been re-opened, and we're looking at final, full completion of the redevelopment mid-year,” Mr Stretton said.
