The company announced the ride-sharing app will be available in Launceston from June 18, three months after it confirmed it would broaden its operation within the state.
Tasmania state manager Lucas Groeneveld said the response from the community to the initial news indicated the company made the right choice.
"Judging by the interest we've received in terms of driver-partner sign-ups and attendance at our information sessions, locals in Northern Tasmania are very keen for ride sharing,” he said.
“More than 30,000 people have opened the Uber app in Northern Tasmania in the past 12 months, so we expect rider demand to be solid.”
Uber’s expansion from Hobart came after it conducted a survey asking people in Launceston and Devonport whether they would like to see Uber in Northern Tasmania.
Representatives from the company also held meetings with the City of Launceston council and the Launceston Chamber of Commerce.
After the official announcement in March, driver information sessions were held in Launceston and Devonport.
Mr Groeneveld said the company hoped to build on the existing interest from potential drivers in the coming months.
"We're still keen to hear from more people who want to earn flexible money driving with the Uber app, particularly on weekends and tourism peaks,” he said.
