The article reported allegations that 13 wombats were believed to have died in an intentionally lit fire and subsequent earthworks.
The Examiner accepts that there is no evidence that any activities by the land-owner caused the death of any wombats, or that any wombats were burned or bulldozed.
The Examiner retracts any implication to that effect and apologises to the land-owner for any hurt and damage to their reputation.
