The Rotary Club of West Tamar welcomed a number of people into its fold last week.

The club bestowed the title of Friend of Rotary on 10 people at the ceremony, while also making 14-year-old Nick Maynard an honorary member.

Club president David Annear said Nick had taken it upon himself to raise the money required for a new barbecue trailer.

He started the fundraising campaign by donating all his pocket money to the cause.

“This is truly someone epitomising Rotary’s motto, ‘Service above self’,” Mr Annear said.

Club member Rob Midson was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow at the ceremony.

It is the highest award in Rotary, according to Mr Annear.
