A Northern Tasmanian inclusive drama training company has received funding as part of a new program targeting youth arts.

The Studio Space Theatre Company Showcase received $5300 towards providing high-quality drama training to children of all abilities with support from StGiles and Assistance Rehabilitation Care.

Nine organisations around the state have received funding as part of the first 2018 Youth Arts Program.

About $260,000 was injected into the Tasmanian arts scene to support youth focused art experiences and activities.

Arts Minister Elise Archer said the program aimed to support and invigorate the state’s youth arts and screen sector, while providing professional development for young artists.

“The funding forms part of the Tasmanian Government’s $1.44 million investment for Tasmania’s first Youth Arts Program, to be delivered over four years,” Ms Archer said.

More than 25 organisations applied for a grant.
