A 39-year-old Mowbray man has been charged after an alleged “serious” assault at Invermay on Monday afternoon.

Tasmania Police will allege the man entered a home on Oswald Street and assaulted a 90-year-old woman.
The woman was allegedly knocked unconscious during the assault and taken to the Launceston General Hospital with a serious facial injury.
Police will also allege the man assaulted a 66-year-old man in the Oswald Street home’s backyard.

The man received facial injuries and provided first aid to the woman until emergency services arrived.
Police allege the man fled the Oswald Street home and broke-in to a home on Mann Street, Invermay where he was apprehended by police.
During the arrest, police allege a uniformed constable was punched multiple times resulting in minor facial and hand injuries.
The officer required medical treatment at the LGH.
The Mowbray man was charged with numerous offences, including aggravated burglary and assault.
He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am on Tuesday.
