Rai Thistlethwayte, Phil Stack and Matt Smith hit the music scene as Thirsty Merc 15 years ago.
Their nationwide tour lands in Hobart on May 4 at the Republic Bar, before heading North to Club 54 in Launceston on May 5, followed by the Forth Pub on May 6.
“Tassie’s one of the best places to play – it’s one of the best parts of Australia,” Thistlethwayte said.
After 15 years, he said the band had a “lot of music and a lot of memories”.
“You start to see things a bit more like family and you realise everyone’s gets through the hard times and how you get through everything together as a group.
“You start to realise, this is like any great relationship - it’s worth keeping together.”
Thistlethwayte said the band had enough practice now to know how to put on a great performance with some creativity thrown in for good measure.
“That’s something that takes a long time to do.”
Fans can expect some of the old favourites to be performed, as well as some new tunes.
“There’s also different versions of songs - we’ll do a more acoustic version of Someday Someday,” Thislethwayte said.
“We’ve got a few other versions of things that we can mix and match. In this Take Me Back tour, we’re playing songs we haven’t actually played for 10 or 15 years.”
