Tas Bearing & Chain acts as agents for some of the largest industrial engineering names in the world today, supplying a diverse range of industries including timber, paper, mining, aluminium, sand, automotive, pharmaceutical, food processing, fisheries, machining and earth moving.

It supplies Dotmar EPP thermoplastic materials for engineering, Equipco fuel equipment, Tsubaki Chain Co. power transmission products and Pacific hoists and electric motors, as well as industrial gearboxes, Optibelts (vee belts and timing belts) and specialist bearing fitting tools.
Established in Launceston in February, 1988, the business was originally staffed by just two people and it has seen steady growth ever since.
In July, 2001, long time employee Grant Bourke became owner of Tas Bearing & Chain and its expansion continued with the opening of a Hobart branch.
By 2010 the Launceston store had moved premises into a purpose-built complex double the size of the original building with new products and services being offered, including becoming the distributor of SKF products, the world leader in the manufacture and design of rolling bearings and associated products.
The following year a third store in Burnie was opened.
Mr Bourke said that there’s no substitute for the experience of its workforce and its ability to find the right product for a job.
“We’re locally owned, it’s a family business, with two of my family members working here, and in many cases multiple members of the same family working here.”
