Herrick is among three other towns in the region to still have boil water alerts.
TasWater CEO Mike Brewster said he was pleased the first three plants were delivered to site in early March.
“Wayatinah, Gladstone and Herrick have now received water treatment plants made in the factory in Launceston with the rest of the plants to be rolled out in the coming months,” Mr Brewster said.
Construction continued in the factory on the water treatment plants for Cornwall, Mathinna, Rossarden and Bronte Park which were to be delivered in the coming months.
New water infrastructure, including extended mains pipelines, were also under construction throughout the state.
However, residents of some towns feel they are missing out.
At the Dorset Council meeting in February, Pioneer resident Jenny Bellinger voiced concerns over the towns water.
“In the December meeting you said you would revisit the Pioneer water situation,” she said.
“Pioneer is going to end up being the only town in Tasmania without proper water.”
Dorset mayor Greg Howard agreed that the situation was not optimal.
“We’ve had this discussion with TasWater that the process that has been put in place is unacceptable,” Cr Howard said.
“They’ve admitted that they handled the situation poorly.”
TasWater’s project aimed to remove all public health alerts on drinking water in Tasmania’s regional towns as part of its 24glasses initiative.
“The plants manufactured in the Prospect facility as well as the other infrastructure in the towns, oonce completed, will treat the drinking supply for over 600 TasWater customers,” Mr Brewster said.
“We are on track to delivering this safe, treated drinking water to the tap in the regional towns by the end of August this year.”
The Department of Health and Human Services said drinking unboiled water in these areas could lead to illnesses.
