The great news is that there have been zero representations against this project .
Has the council ever thought that a lot of ratepayers feel it is a complete waste of time, even putting forward a representation against any of the projects, funded by ratepayers of Launceston?
I see all the piling required for the work is complete, before the final development application.
Who foots the bill for the insurance on a venture like this?
What happens if some child, or some intoxicated twit, falls from the proposed 12-metre high sky walk?
By the way, is it time now that the Launceston ratepayers are mature enough, or privileged enough or allowed to know just how much was spent on the LED advertising around the York Park or Aurora Stadium.
Hang on, now its UTAS Stadium isn't it?
Is it any wonder the ratepayers are not bothered to attend meetings? The council just pushes the vote through after the job has started.

Air Bags
WHILE the federal government's intervention to recall numerous cars of various makes due to faulty airbags is overdue, it is more than welcome.
I urge all motorists with potentially faulty airbags to have them checked, whether their car is on the list or not.
Recently the grandson of a friend had another motorist pull on to the shoulder of a freeway on the mainland and then attempt a U-turn in front of him.
The result?
A classic T-bone.
While none of his injuries were life-threatening in his case most, including some fairly serious burns, were caused by his own car's airbags.
I urge all motorists not to be complacent and to have their car's airbags checked.
A few minutes of your time could be a life saver.

Refunds
At present, the tax office refunds the extra franking credits received from shares if your marginal tax rate is less than company tax paid. This is to prevent the ‘double taxation’ of company profits.
Bill Shorten and the ALP claim to be the friends of ‘working Australians’, but do not be fooled.
This latest policy will hurt 230,000 pensioners who receive these refunds.
Ninety-seven per cent of people who receive refunds have income below $87,000 and people with higher incomes will be able to reduce their tax bill by the full value of their credits.
This is deeply unfair and is a double tax on share dividends for low income earners.
Share ownership is for everyone.
Tax refunds from share dividends help relieve cost of living pressures for many retirees and people on low incomes.
Under this policy, the ALP will rip money from the pockets of pensioners, retirees and low-income earners to pay for its budget black hole.
You simply cannot trust Labor.

PM’s Visit
WHILE I am sure the last thing people attempting to clean up want to do is escort visitors around damaged homes and businesses, I wondered why the Prime Minister choose NSW for his first inspection when the Northern Territory and Victoria also suffered devastating damage.
Then I realised that NT and Victoria have Labor governments, maybe just a coincidence but then again maybe not.

Les Miserables
CONGRATULATIONS to the Encore Theatre for its production Les Miserables.
Apart from the wonderful costumes and clever scene changes I could hear the words to the songs, which were sung by talented people .
Also the orchestra did not drown out the singers.
Congratulations too all concerned.
Patricia Webb, George Town.
Thank you
I AM writing this letter to say thank you to all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Launceston General Hospital.
I would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and staff who looked after me during my illness. From the bottom of my heart cannot thank them enough.
Always a smile, a friendly hello, always a jug of ice to help me through the night.
To all the nurses who looked after me, I called them all, “Angels of the night”.
John Spurling, Burnie.
Road conditions
WITH the re-sealing of half of the northern outlet in Launceston, I hope they fix the entrance to the Newnham connector from the northern side because of the rippled or corrugated bitumen.
A motorbike or scooter ride front wheel hits these bumps and you lose partial control of your steering if you are inexperienced, or just not paying enough attention, the obvious can happen and you can come off or have a near miss.
The actual intersection does need re- designing and is planned in the future, I just hope it's no another roundabout because they seem to be the flavour of the day.
Anthony Galvin, Mayfield.
Glover
I’D LIKE to agree very much with R. Linnett (letters, The Examiner, March 20) in relation to these art awards.
I Googled landscape paintings to see if our definitions of the word were the same and they are. John Glover would be rolling in his grave, notwithstanding the talented artwork on display the majority were simply not landscapes so I agree; please change the name of the prize.
Sue Saunders, Launceston.
