Special edition Commonwealth Games coins will flood the Tamar Valley for the next two weeks.

The Royal Australian Mint has created the $2 coins to commemorate the 2018 games in the Gold Coast and will release them through participating Woolworths stores.

George Town, Legana and Riverside were three stores chosen to be included in the initiative.

The coins will feature one of three coloured rings – yellow, blue or green – to represent the Gold Coast’s natural landscape.

“I hope that this collection will remind Australians of the fantastic efforts of our team at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in years to come,” Australian paralympian Brenden Hall OAM said.
