Due to lack of funds this organisation has to close its doors.

Have we as a society become so indifferent to the rights of animals that we look the other way?

Animals have always been on the short straw when it comes to funding.

I have been informed that the state government has given no funding at any time.

If this is so then they should be taken to task, they can pluck money out of the coffers for sport venues etc but when it comes to animal welfare they look the other way.

I am prepared to stir up a confrontation with the ones in power over this issue as I am a staunch animal lover and have fought for this many times.

I have been in contact with three government offices so far, but due to the election they are still sorting themselves out, but once that is done I will be there with all guns blazing.

This closure cannot be allowed to happen.

WHAT IS it about wages here in Tasmania that one of the most common gripe among public sector workers and trades persons in Tasmania is that we are paid less than our counterparts on the mainland?

Trying to get nurses from England has failed due to wages being a factor.There is a very good reason those on the mainland are paid more (and we here in Tasmania seem to forget just how good our lifestyle is).

Mainlanders on average pay more for housing and rent, pay road tolls and are stuck in regular traffic jams, therefore commuting to and from work takes much longer and the list goes on.

I say, if you have a job, and you live right here in the best state in Australia then stop whinging.

Your lifestyle outdoes many on the mainland, just ask my son.     

A SOPHISTICATED scam is coming to Tasmanian phone numbers.  

The caller will claim to be from Telstra, that your modem is faulty and has been compromised by a hacker, which is against Australian law. Users may be asked to check the modem’s flashing lights, a pointless task, and then asked to bring up the ‘Run’ dialogue box and type ‘netstat’, which shows current internet connections. 

They will claim that the data indicates serious problems.  

Users will be instructed to download and install a program called ‘TeamViewer’ which will allow the hacker to take over the user’s computer.

One can check such calls by first pausing the call “I’ll be back in a moment” and then check the number they called on by typing it into your search engine and see if it is recognised as Telstra.

If not it’s a scam.  

If you refuse to continue then the caller will probably swear at you and hang up.

FINLAND SOLVED their homelessness problem, by providing homes.

If this is made the foundation of political policy in Tasmania, and in Australia, there will not be another housing crisis.

If growth is taking housing away from renters, then it aught be a basic government responsibility to step in and ensure that each citizen has a home at a price they can afford.

Allowing a casino economy to deprive citizens of homes, is a political failure.

The success of the Housing Summit will be to end homelessness in Tasmania.

If there is still any homelessness in Tasmania by Christmas, that will be a political failure.

Will we start counting down to the end of homelessness in Tasmania?
