Six Tasmanian riders will take to the water for the four-day national series which starts in Renmark on Thursday, with former Australian Open champion Marcus Bush among the state’s best medal hopes.
Southern youngsters Jesse Mason and Judah Towns have improved in leaps and bounds ahead of the competition and will be the state’s youngest competitors, with veteran John Van Asperen the most experienced Tasmanian.
Bush’s fellow amateur rider Matt Seen and Tasmanian Wakeboarding club president Nige Curran – who will be looking to defend Andrew Bennett’s masters gold medal from last year - round out the squad.
“We are stoked to back up another great team of riders for nationals after having such a strong representation last year,” Curran said.
“Winning isn’t everything but it’s a great confidence boost for the riders and inspires them to start trying new tricks and pushing limits.
“We are especially excited to have Judah at the age of 10 representing the state, he is landing tricks that we have never seen a grom land before so it’s super exciting for the club.”
