Almost a month has passed since Tasmania’s most recent fruit fly detections at George Town and Devonport.

A Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment department spokesperson said eradication and spot baiting activities continued in the state’s North and North West.

“Surveillance is also being undertaken with ongoing inspection of host produce at and around identified sites as well as monitoring of approximately 1500 fruit fly traps around Tasmania,” the spokesperson said.

Control areas remain between Ulverstone in the North West and Beechford in the North East, bounded by Sheffield, Port Sorrell and Batman Bridge.
